First Commercial Installation of the Alpha-SPECT Mini™ at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

[November, 2025]

London, Canada  – Scintica is excited to announce the first commercial installation of the Alpha-SPECT Mini™, an ultra-high resolution and sensitive preclinical SPECT imaging system, at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

The Alpha-SPECT Mini™ uses cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detectors, providing unparalleled energy resolution and exceptional sensitivity for both single- and multi-isotope imaging. With its ultra-wide stationary field of view, the system enables TRUE whole-body dynamic imaging in mice and rats and supports simultaneous imaging of up to four mice; a first in its class for stationary SPECT systems.

Paired with CT, the Alpha-SPECT Mini™ gains powerful multimodal capabilities, enhancing anatomical accuracy, improving attenuation correction, and adding crucial structural context to functional SPECT data. Together, these modalities provide richer, more meaningful datasets for preclinical imaging, dynamic kinetic studies and radiopharmaceutical research in general.

Key Capabilities of the Alpha-SPECT Mini™

  • Unparalleled energy resolution for multi-isotope, for example 3–4 keV at 140 keV
  • Ultra-high spatial resolution of 0.8 mm
  • Ultra-wide stationary FOV (6 cm × 8 cm) for TRUE whole-body dynamic imaging of mice and rats
  • High throughput with simultaneous scanning of up to 4 mice
  • Modular design with options for CT, Standard Resolution, or High Resolution)
  • Programmable dual-FOV aperture enables both whole-body and microscopic imaging

Advancing Preclinical SPECT Research

The Alpha-SPECT Mini™ is a trusted solution for research teams requiring precision, flexibility, and efficiency across a wide range of molecular imaging applications.  Its advanced capabilities support cutting-edge work in oncology, neurology, cardiovascular research, and radiotheranostics.
