Biomedical Service Technician

We are seeking an enthusiastic problem-solver who is highly organized and technically inclined to join our team as Biomedical Service Technician. This role will be based in our Houston, TX office, with significant travel (up to 70%) and will focus heavily on supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of our PET/CT systems. The technician will also support other products within our portfolio such as DEXA scanners, optical imagers, in vivo microscopes, and bioprinters. This position reports directly to the Service Engineering Manager and is part of the Service Division.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- PET/CT Support:
- Assist with the installation, calibration, repair, and preventative maintenance of PET/CT systems
- Provide detailed on-site and remote training including day-to-day use, technical support and applications support
- Learn and apply diagnostic techniques to identify and quickly resolve equipment software and hardware malfunctions
- Work closely with PET/CT manufacturing partners in escalating complex issues
- Assist in generating and maintaining accurate service records and reports
- General Service Support:
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of other Scintica equipment, as needed
- Provide training to customers on day-to-day use of equipment during installation and/or post-installation via videoconference, telephone, or email
- Learn and adhere to company service procedures and safety protocols
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of issues
- Help with site preparation for installation, including verifying room conditions, electrical requirements, and information technology
- Liaise with manufacturing partners to troubleshoot and support Scintica equipment
- Assist with coordination of installations between manufacturers and delivery locations
- Training and Development:
- Participate in training programs to develop technical expertise in Scintica’s product portfolio
- Stay up-to-date on the latest biomedical equipment technology in Scintica’s growing portfolio
- Work to learn and apply best practices in service and support
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with the Service Engineering Manager and other members of the Service Division
- Work with sales and product management teams to understand customer needs and equipment capabilities
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Service Engineering Manager on service activities and customer feedback
- Documentation and Administration:
- Complete and submit accurate and timely service reports, and other documentation as required by the Service Division or other internal team members
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used, time spent, and customer interactions, in accordance with service division procedures
- Travel:
- Travel to customer sites throughout North America and internationally for installations, maintenance, and repairs (up to 70% travel required)

Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent technical experience)
- Strong interest in biomedical equipment and technology
- Basic understanding of electronics and mechanical systems
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working with Windows operating systems and remote desktop applications
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel internationally
- Ability to rent a car
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with PET/CT systems
- Knowledge of radiation safety requirements
- Experience with medical imaging equipment or related technologies
- Experience with the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic testing equipment
- Hands-on experience repairing and working on complex systems
- Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu)
- Basic programming and networking experience
